Version 2.0.0

Delivering Hope Version 2.0.0 changelog

This update brings a lot of new content to the game as well as some bugfixes. I hope you enjoy it!

New stuff:

  • Added aerial items: Glider, Rocket and Holopoly.
  • Holopoly will randomly activate one of four possible effects: 2 positive, 2 negative.
  • Added aerial item related powerups.
  • Added a chance for a SUPER Hot Sauce to appear in the level up screen.
  • Added "Last Hope" consumable to the level up screen. If Chibirys stops rolling without touching Bae, she'll get one emergency boost.
  • Kronii and Mumei will now spawn in the game, each with their own special effect.
  • Added the ability to boost downwards under certain conditions.
  • Added a lot of new achievements.
  • Added a flight trail to Chibirys. It changes color when Banana effect is active.
  • Speaking of Banana, added BananaRyS.
  • "Classic Mode" can be selected in the settings, to play as version 1.0.3, without all the new changes.
  • Added the current best run distance to the Achievements screen.
  • Added a Bae hit counter to the Achievements screen. (this statistic was not tracked in version 1, so it will start at 0)

Changes:

  • The level up screen now shows 4 upgrades. (3 in classic mode)
  • Can equip 3 consumable items now. (2 in classic mode)
  • The "Next" box now shows the next 2 incoming objects. (1 in classic mode)
  • Updated the "How to play" screen to include the new items and gameplay mechanics.
  • Maxed up powerups will have pink text in the bottom left icon.
  • Subtle change to the Calli launch animation when it's MAX LEVEL.
  • Slightly zoomed out the camera.
  • Added two more BGM songs that can be toggled on/off in the title screen settings menu.
  • Changed the achievements notification to show on top of all other UI.
  • Moved the Rat Blocker and Hot Sauce UI slots a bit to the right, so that they're not hidden behind the achievement notification.
  • Made it easier to reach the "retry" option in the pause menu when using a controller/keyboard. Just pause and navigate to the left.
  • Simplified the display resolution selection setting.
  • The game will keep running in the background. When losing focus while flying, the game will automatically pause.

Bug fixes:

  • Fixed a bug that caused the player to level up at the start of a new run when losing the previous run at the level up distance.
  • Fixed a bug that limited the runs to only 2 powerups under certain circumstances.
  • Fixed the jittery background scrolling, for real this time. I hope.

To David Wu, I'd like to say: Good work! There's a lot of obvious content updates, and lots of little tweaks for juice or quality of life.

I have no idea how you think of these boosts. Okay, Calliope "5'5" is short enough for me" Mori was obvious, but smacking into Kronii's face is hilarious and weird.

To IRyS, I'd like to say: The more you avoid Mumei, the more I throw you. You will continue being thrown, at minimum, until I see what Mumei's special boost looks like. I hope you understand what you should do now.

Random game feel comment: Boosting when using a flight item seems to just end the flight, which doesn't feel like what should happen. (I guess it could be a coincidence, I didn't want to waste any boosts/gliders after that first incident.) I guess it's not that surprising you can't just swerve-glide up or something, but it feels wrong. Could it maybe accelerate the horizontal gliding, though?

Boosting is locked while using a flight item, so you probably timed it just right.

I believe boosts are better used to save yourself from a Bae hit than to speed up an air item that lasts only a few seconds.

Thank you for the feedback! I really appreciate it.
